Lawrence Community Development Corporation and Partnerships for Lawrence

LCDC is very proud to announce the relationship with the PFL and all the excitement that our partnership means for the Lawrence Community.  We are beginning a new chapter in the revitalization of Franklin Road and of the community based art programs that we will be offering at our new  Arts Center.

Anyone who might be interested in taking art, photography, sculpting, jewelry making, mosiacs, drawing, oil painting and more need to stop by and check out our list of classes to start July 1st 2011.  The schedules will be out in June.  There are classes scheduled for all ages from 6 years old up.  This is a perfect way for children to spend summer break, and for adults to try something that they have wanted to do for a long time and just didn’t know where to go.  We will post our schedule later on after it is confirmed and we have all the particulars on a calendar.

The LCDC is very interested in preserving the Franklin Road corridor for many reasons.  One of the most important is that it has become an eyesore for one of the main roads that pass through Lawrence.  We are dedicated to making a difference in the community and feel that our presence with an office on Franklin Road that will be a real asset to making a change in the properties along the corridor north of Pendleton Pike.

This is a good “DID YOU KNOW”  …….a builiding at 4508 N. Franklin Road was the city hall when Lanesville was here and eventually became Lawrence.  North of it by the Railroad tracks is a red brick building – that used to be the train station in 1903, and across the street in a building that used to be the grocery store for Lanesville, is a business.  So, we are going to working hard to preserve the history of the City of Lawrence.
